This production does a solid job with this huge piece. Director Mary Jo DuPrey uses the expansive set quite efficiently, and the momentum of the play is only broken a few times, because of scene changes. Eliminating the second intermission, which is usually where the funeral dinner scene is cleared, made the scene change a bit clumsy and lengthy. But even with a few bumps, the show still works. ... full review

You will laugh out loud continually during this play, while simultaneously absorbing the underlying, more painful emotions beneath the sniping, fighting, joking, and seemingly disconnected family members. I am enjoying reliving the experience while writing this, and will likely return for another helping at the Weston family table.... full review

Although Tracy Letts’s beautiful use of language, metaphor and situational irony is enough to draw audiences to see this masterpiece of a play, this compelling and smart cast is an equally alluring reason to see this production. Under the direction of Mary Jo DuPrey, this tight ensemble soars and sinks to emotional heights and depth with dynamism, clarity and the darkest sense of humor. Every beat is a perfectly struck chord in an aesthetically moving composition, and every element of the production comes together beautifully.... full review

Adding a witty meta-theatrical layer, director Mary Jo DuPrey steers a 13-member cast comprising Geer's kinfolk and their extended family of longtime ensemble actors. Who better to explore the intricate neurosis of a family reunion?... full review

The good news is that if you want to watch a long, Pulitzer Prize-winning black comedy about a family that might look like yours, only wittier, there’s a very good production going on in Topanga. Mary Jo DuPrey directs a strong cast in a physically engaging show that uses almost the entire available Theatricum Botanicum space – the stage, plus the balconies, porches, stairwells and doorways of attendant buildings.... full review
