Inspired by 2006 events in Almere, Amsterdam, internationally acclaimed Actors’ Repertory Theatre comes at you full force, diving into the theatrical tomfoolery with gusto as a troupe of seven performers breathe life into dozens of separate characters, creatures and curiosities, taking you on an awe-inspiring musical journey rooted in old-world European story-telling and physical tomfoolery peppered with sharp contemporary satire.
Told from the point of view of the Drempels – the tiny sub-species of human who live in the cracks of the earth and are caretakers to the Green – DREMPELS, a new monomyth for a modern age, takes audiences on an all-encompassing theatrical journey, rooted in old-world European story telling and physical theatre swirled together with contemporary socio-political satire.

But it is also a tale of warning, peering at notions of environmentalism, genocide, gentrification, revitalization, rebirth, and political, as well as literal, bulldozing, Look beneath the “cute” and you will see an alarming amalgam of past, present and future atrocities, set in a microcosmic society that frighteningly mirrors the macrocosm of our own foundering world.
